A Week in the Sun

Last week I was away on my holibobs to Gran Canaria and now I’m back raring to go. Having the whole week away gave me the time to sit and think about where this blog is and where I want it to go. I looked back at some of my recent posts (thank the lord for free Wi-Fi) and realised that I’ve been a bit sketchy with my posts as of recent. They’re more of a mish-mash and not the lifestyle posts that I was aiming for at the start of the year. Yes, I love crafts. Yes, I really love nails. Hell yes, I do love a rant – but the way I have been going about it isn’t how I imagined it.

So, I am planning a minor refurb of this blog J Nothing too drastic, but enough to get me motivated to write more and write well. Watch this space…

In the meantime I would like to quickly rave about my aforementioned holiday. It was WONDERFUL. We arrived to a lovely heat and then our hotel didn’t have any room for us, but very kindly offered us an upgrade to their sister hotel down the road. The original hotel was pretty swish but when we arrived at its sibling, we were completely blown away.

The Gloria Palace Royal Hotel and Spa is a 4.5 star hotel (according to Trip Advisor) in the Amadores area of Gran Canaria. As with many of the hotels on the island, it is set into a cliff and this is how they manage to get this AMAZING infinity pool…

A whole infinity pool just for me???

The staff were lovely, the food was delicious and the room was clean, light and very big – we couldn’t have asked for anything else from our week in the sun. We ate in the hotel most nights as we were there on a half board (breakfast and dinner) basis, and usually I would have been quite bored with this but the food was varied every night and cooked really well. We did decide to venture to a real restaurant one night and we ended up at Cosi Come Sei in Puerto Rico. This is the top rated restaurant in the area (again, thanks Trip Advisor) and we weren’t disappointed. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I had a steak (shock) and Ian opted for a lobster linguini with black truffle which he was delighted with.

What a cheeky chappy

I got burnt, Ian is back to looking like a healthy foreigner, our case was under weight and the hotel had free Wi-Fi. What more could you ask for 🙂
