Guess who’s back… Back again. Goldie’s back… tell a friend.
That’s right! I’m back and raring to go from my short Christmas hiatus! How have you all been? It’s been lovely to take a bit of a break but I certainly missed my little piece of the internet. I hope Santa was good to you all even though to me it seems like a distant memory now! I will be dismantling the tree this weekend and as you can already see the Christmas theme is gone from the blog!
Can you believe 2013 is over!?! What a year it was for me! I started a new job, travelled to Amsterdam and Gran Canaria on two very different holidays, I learned how to sew, stepped out of my comfort zone, moved into a new house and, most relevantly, started this very blog! That’s right, the 7th of January is Boldly Gold’s birthday and may I have something in mind to mark the occasion (watch this space)!
I’ve never really been one for resolutions however as last year was so productive I want to keep up the momentum. There will be no “New Year, New Me” crap as I pretty much like myself the way I am, so instead I am setting myself some new challenges for 2014 and they are as follows:
- Learn another new crafty skill – I enjoyed learning how to sew so much this year that I want to expand my horizons and learn something new in 2014. When I know what it is, you’ll be the first to know.
- As well as continuing my crafty awakening, I would like to learn how to use my new BIG GIRL CAMERA! That’s right; from here on out there will be no more fewer iPhone photos and many, many more hi-def pics for you to feast your little peepers on. I was VERY lucky to receive a beautiful Canon EOS 600D DSLR camera for my Christmas and I will learn to use it properly if it kills me.
My final challenge in a BIG one so it deserves its own paragraph… I want to go self-hosted. I know I can do so much more with this blog and as it’s been a year I’m ready to make a real commitment. As it stands I think I know enough about the interwebs and the blogging machine to make the changes myself, but I want to feel really confident about doing it and I want to do it right. I know there are so many challenges to be faced when it comes to making the switch and I want to be as prepared as possible, so for the next month or two I will have my researcher hat on! If you’re reading this and have already made the jump to self-hosted I would love for you to get in touch. Point me in the direction of great resources, or better yet tell me your story! I am always lurking around on Twitter, but if you have something to say which can’t be done in 140 characters then please drop me an email (email@example.com) and let’s get chatting.
So there you have it – my goals for 2014! Let me know if you have set yourself some goals by leaving a link in the comments as I am such a stalker.
