Christmas Tree Skirt

I’m very pleased to say that after a year in the Unfinished Object (UFO) pile, my Christmas Tree skirt is finished!!

Last year I took a patchwork and quilting class and this is the 2nd project that we were supposed to complete… Oops! I’ve actually not finished the first thing either but that’s a story for another day. This tree skirt was packed away with all the other Christmas crap decorations last year and when it was time to put everything out for 2014, I made a vow that I would finish it before the big man showed up. Needless to say I’m awfy proud of it šŸ™‚

It was actually so nice to see how far my sewing has come in a full year. There are some wonky-as-hell lines on this thing which made binding it pretty hairy in some places. Can I just state here that my binding skills leave a lot to be desired? Next year I’m going to focus on my precision but for now I’m calling it character. The prints on the fabric maybe aren’t all that Christmassy but I think the colours are and it serves the purpose of hiding the fugly tree stand.

It was a relatively quick and painless project that gave me an immense amount of satisfaction and all-round good vibes. Ho Ho freekin’ Ho.
