A Christmas Moneta?

So that will be Christmas over then. I don’t know about you but I have a severe case of the January blues! To be perfectly honest, I have absolutely no idea what happened to the month of December and I think I burnt myself out a bit. I had all of these plans to be a blogging boss over my Christmas break but instead I buried myself in a little cocoon of un-productivity. Here’s what really happened:

  • I binge-watched the Harry Potter movies
  • When not watching the films, I was listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks.
  • I was unashamedly playing excessive amounts of World of Warcraft.
  • I baked (and ate) A LOT.
  • And I burned a Bath and Bodyworks candle.

All of the above have contributed to the severe shock I am in right now having just completed my first day back in the real world. To say I had the fear last night would be the biggest understatement of 2015 so far. I’m happy to report, however, that I survived and I have a cute (albeit belated) festive dress to share with you.

Would you look at that, it’s a Christmas Moneta! The fabric for this frock is really nice, although pretty tricky to work with. It’s a metallic jersey kindly supplied by Remnant Kings who were running a 12 Days of Stitchmass series on their own blog. I suggest popping over there and pinning a few things to make for Christmas 2015! This is version 3 of the pattern like my original with 3/4 length sleeves and I did plan to make it with a collar but when I put it together it just looked a bit too much.

Oh I miss my tree already 😦 As I said this fabric was quite tricky to work with, especially when it came to the hem! I’m still a failure at twin-needle stitching so went with the usual zig-zag but it was so pronounced on the fabric. I wish I had finished it another way but any unpicking left visible holes so I’m calling it a design element. I had planned to wear this on Christmas day but left it on the ironing board in my haste to pack up all the presents to take to my Mum’s! The odds were not in my favour.

So there’s that and now I’m looking forward to the year ahead. There will be a lot more sewing because it’s good for my soul and lots of other crafty projects in the foreseeable. I’ve just ordered a new Filofax and tonight I’m sitting with a big-ass pukka pad to plan out 2015 for Boldly Gold because I’m a saddo like that. Normal service has resumed so I shall see you in 2 days! Until then I would like to wish you all a very happy new year and all the best for the year ahead (insert big smooshy kisses here).

  1. This fabric is gorgeous! I was gutted about taking down my tree too. But at least you have a sparkly dress to cheer you up 🙂

  2. I know what you mean about December! Where did it go?! Although unlike you (and Elaine), I am pleased to have the tree down. I love putting it up, but I love taking it down even more (space! And light!). Love he dress. The fabric is so pretty!
